After college, Zach served as an AmeriCorps volunteer for two years in Spokane before transitioning to a Portland area nonprofit helping connect volunteers to service agencies across the Pacific Northwest.
After a budding fascination with personal finance became an obsession, he started working with a financial planning firm in Portland before joining Johnson Bixby in 2020. Like so many people, Alexander learned to budget through fits and starts. He eventually succeeded in paying off debt and sticking to a spending plan, and then used his newfound skills to help those around him who were struggling. She held the FPQP™ designation (Financial Paraplanner Qualified Professional) from 2007 – 2021. In 2020 she transitioned to a part-time role, gradually moving toward retirement. Kellan officially joined our team in June 2025 after working as an intern in the summer of 2024. During his internship, Kellen quickly became a trusted presence among fellow team members to help our clients take meaningful, manageable steps toward their financial goals.
Kellen certainly embraces our practice curiosity value. He’s already earned his Series 7 and 66 licenses and is actively working toward his CFP designation. No doubt this strong academic foundation started in college when he published a thesis on Behavioral Financial in partnership with a faculty member in the College for Business at Oregon State University.
Outside of work, Kellen stays on the move. He’s a proud member of a Hood to Coast Relay team, trains for marathons throughout the year, and embraces winter on the mountain with a snowboard when the snow falls. When the weather shifts, you’ll likely find him on the golf course—rain or shine.

Joel is our IT Manager and a true technology enthusiast. He loves to tinker and figure out how things work, with a belief that there’s far more creativity in technology than meets the eye. At our company, he stays hands-on while also guiding the overall direction of our technology strategy. He enjoys wearing all the hats and helps us stay both innovative, efficient and safe with our technological practices.
Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Joel traveled extensively early in his career, working across the country before ultimately solidifying his love for the region. He embraces everything the Northwest has to offer—snow, sun, surf, and endless trails.
A lifelong athlete, he played competitive volleyball for more than 30 years and recently traded the court for the pickleball paddle. When he’s not solving tech challenges, you’ll likely find him surfing year-round on the north coast, swimming, hiking, biking, bouldering, or enjoying a patio session with his wife, their dog, and friends.
At home, he tends to his small urban farm—complete with two bee hives (simply named A and B), three chickens, and Murray, a Schneeze (a miniature schnauzer and Havanese mix).

Joanne joined our team in late 2025, bringing with her a career rooted in care, responsibility, and service. Her experience in the airline industry and emergency disaster management centered on protecting others, ensuring safe workplaces by identifying risks, upholding health and safety standards, and proactively preventing harm.
After taking an early retirement, Joanne realized she wasn’t quite ready to close that chapter. Missing the sense of purpose and connection that work brought her, she found her way to Johnson Bixby, where we’re grateful to have her supporting our Client Service team and helping keep our day-to-day operations running smoothly.
Originally from the Southwest, Joanne now calls the Pacific Northwest home, where she enjoys being close to her children and grandchildren.

Karie joined our team at the end of 2025, bringing a strong foundation in nonprofit fundraising. A lifelong learner, she was drawn to financial planning as a way to expand her impact—quickly identifying Johnson Bixby as a firm where she could build on her relationship-driven experience while growing her technical expertise. She is passionate about forming long-term client relationships and helping people work toward meaningful life goals.
Karie holds a Master’s of Public Administration in Nonprofit Administration from Portland State University. As part of her graduate program, she served in the Peace Corps in Latvia, where she supported fundraising efforts for an adult education association—an experience that continues to shape her commitment to service and connection.
Outside of work, Karie embraces learning in all areas of life. She is currently studying for the Certified Financial Planner™ exam and enjoys staying active through ice skating and Pilates.

Jake has always been fascinated by the markets and investing, which led him to a career as an Investment Analyst.
Jake works closely with our financial planners to ensure clients’ portfolios remain aligned with the goals and strategies outlined in their financial plans. Through research, investment analysis, and trading, he helps put those plans into action and supports clients’ long-term financial success.
Before joining Johnson Bixby, Jake worked on both the advisory and brokerage sides of the financial services industry, serving as an investment analyst and research associate. His experience gives him a broad perspective on the investment process and the role portfolios play in supporting long-term financial goals.
