Planning matters

Hooked on Nature; Hooked on Education

For nearly 15 years I have been a Board member at Columbia Springs, a place where kids and adults alike can explore trails, learn about recycling, macroinvertebrates, flora and fauna and visit the historic Vancouver Trout hatchery built in 1938. With green space spanning 100 acres, right within the urban boundary, it’s a jewel for the community to enjoy and explore.

Join me October 3 for their annual fundraiser, Hooked on Nature, as we go virtual and you can enjoy the event from home! For $35/ticket, you’ll support the programs and activities at Columbia Springs and be part of a fun event.  Read more and buy your ticket here:

Johnson Bixby is a corporate sponsor of Columbia Springs, supporting the on-site education of more than 7,000 kids per year who extend their classroom learning to the outdoors. As someone who grew up pre-iphone and computers, it’s a privilege to help provide kids the opportunity to explore nature and learn about their outdoor environment – something that is even more important today as kids go to school online. We are also impressed with the efficiency in which they run their programs and make the most of our financial support.

Curious about why a financial planning firm supports an environmental nonprofit? It’s about access to education. At Johnson Bixby we believe in providing financial education. Columbia Springs provides environmental education. We are both committed to strengthening our community by providing information that allows for more informed decisions, which in turn help us be better stewards of both our financial and natural resources.
