Planning matters

First Friday Downtown

Johnson Bixby hosted a Nature Photography Show as part of the Vancouver Downtown Association event, First Friday Downtown. Downtown was filled with beautiful art and great food. Our very own Heidi Johnson Bixby was one of the artists who displayed photography from her travels.

Other artists at the event included Paul Montague III, Erskine Woods, Wei Sami Zhuang, Eve Hanlin, and more. Waste Connections sponsored the refreshments.

All sale proceeds benefited Columbia Springs, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing environmental education and outdoor activities for students and families in Clark County. Columbia Springs offers a unique setting where educational experiences foster greater awareness of the natural world and inspire stewardship. The site features over 2 miles of walking trails, interpretive displays, wildlife viewing and picnic areas. If you haven’t walked the trails at Columbia Springs, you can visit them daily, dawn to dust, 365 days a year. Parking and admission are free.

We’re inspired by our community and love giving back. Heidi’s contribution of her nature photography taken on her trips to Africa was a nice way to bring together her passion for two organizations doing great work in their respective communities. On Heidi’s travels to Africa, she supports the work of Global Sojourns Giving Circle, a non-profit organization helping fund small, sustainable, well-managed organizations in Southern Africa whose programs empower and educate girls who are often suffering from poverty or abuse.
